Overview

Through our relationship with FFH advisory Council members such as David duChemin, Gavin Gough, Matt Brandon, Jeffrey Chapman, Karl Grobl, Nevada Weir and Edoardo Agresti, we are able to secure certain places on highly sought after workshop places.
In 2012 we will be offering 2 workshops. One of these will be the Angkor Photo Workshop run by Karl Grobl, Gavin Gough and Matt Brandon in July 2012.
Applications will open on 1 Feb and close on 30 Mar 2012. The second workshop will be announced in the next few weeks.
These workshops typically cost about $5k for a week, excluding travel to the location. They are a fantastic opportunity to improve your craft and to really learn from the masters what it takes to become a successful photographer. This is a key rite of passage for anyone thinking of turning full-time.
The Workshop grant covers up to $5k towards one of these workshops – the money secures the place. You still have to buy your own air fare and cover your own costs. In exceptional cases we may also cover the cost of travel to the workshop.
Submission Process
Applying is a simple 4-step process.
-
Step 1- You must be registered on the FFH website and have received your photoshelter account details to be able to complete your submission. You can register by clicking on this link.
-
Step 2- Check your eligibility criteria. Your application will be invalid if you do not meet the eligibility criteria. These are detailed on the neighboring tab, eligibility.
-
Step 3 – The photographer must upload 8-10 JPEG images as a supporting portfolio. Image files sized to longest dimension at 3000 pixels, 300 dpi, saved as JPEGs with standard compression no lower than 8 on the JPEG scale. Image files should be numbered and named in the order in which the applicant would like the images to be viewed. When uploading into the FFH Photoshelter account you will be asked to enter the name of the grant (IGVP-mentoring). The software will then create a dedicated folder including your name and the date of your upload under the grant name. A full tutorial on how to do this is available here.
-
Step 4 – The online application form covers all the mandatory information. In addition there is an option to submit a supplementary document which can be uploaded via the form, and must be submitted with the following filename format: Grantname-photographername.doc eg igvp-mentoring–marcoryan.doc. A Pdf document or Apple version of Word (.docx) are also acceptable formats. This supplementary document should be no more than one side of A4 paper and can be used to expand or amplify why you should be chosen, what project you might undertake or what unique angles or aspect you would wish to bring to the panel’s consideration.
Application Form
The online application form for the Angkor Workshop grant will automatically become available to registered users at 00:00 hours on 01 February 2012 and applications can be made up until 23:59 hours on 30 March 2012(all times are Pacific Standard Time – GMT-8).
